This ongoing manga series inspired is by Melanie Klein’s Object Relations Theory, where the breast is regarded as instrumental in shaping the inner development of the infant. I’m using the breast as a motif which threads together those ambivalent and conflicting psychological oscillations, therefore the pages are meant to be read as fragmented, non-linear narratives, with no particular order to them.

For the infant, the good breast sustains nourishment, while the bad breast fails to satisfy hunger. On the one hand, the infant, unable to ease her inner rage, may project her aggression onto the “bad breast”; on the other hand, the infant might fear that her negative fantasies could destroy the good breast, thus submitting to an immense sense of guilt. The breast hence constitutes the original object that is in conflict with the ego.

I lamented the transition from infancy to girlhood, womanhood, and perhaps, eventually, motherhood. When the infant matures into a woman, she must realize that she too, is destined to be judged as the good or bad breast, just as her mother.
